How to Use ReviewX Classic Widgets

Every ReviewX shortcode has a matching Classic Widget — a drag-and-drop version you can add from Appearance → Widgets without typing a single shortcode tag. Under the hood, each widget simply builds the equivalent shortcode from the fields you fill in and renders it, so anything you can do with a shortcode you can also do here, just through a form.

Where to find them

Go to Appearance → Widgets, add a widget area block, and search for “ReviewX” — you’ll see eight widgets, one per shortcode:

Widget Equivalent shortcode Fields available
ReviewX: Review List [rvx-review-list] Title, Product ID, Post ID, Post Type, Reviews Per Page, Filters/Sort/Rating/Attachment toggles
ReviewX: Review Form [rvx-review-form] Title
ReviewX: Criteria Graph [rvx-criteria-graph] Title
ReviewX: Review Summary [rvx-summary] Title
ReviewX: Review Statistics [rvx-stats] Title
ReviewX: Star Count [rvx-star-count] Title (optional)
ReviewX: Google Reviews [rvx-google-review] Title, Place ID/URL override, Reviews Limit, Truncate Character Limit, Cache Duration, Load More toggle
ReviewX: Featured Reviews [rvx-reviews] Title, Review IDs (comma-separated)

Example: Review List widget

Drag ReviewX: Review List into a sidebar, then:

  1. Set an optional Title.
  2. Leave Product ID/Post ID blank to auto-detect the current page, or enter a specific ID to always show one product’s reviews regardless of which page the sidebar appears on.
  3. Set Reviews Per Page (1–100).
  4. Toggle Enable Filters Bar, Enable Sorting Dropdown, Enable Rating Filter, and Enable Attachment Filter individually.
  5. Save. The widget internally builds [rvx-review-list product_id="..." per_page="..." filter="..." sort_by="..." rating="..." attachment="..."] and renders it in the sidebar.

Widgets vs. shortcodes vs. Gutenberg blocks — which to use

  • Classic Widgets — best for widget areas (sidebars, footers) on classic/widget-based themes, when you want a settings form instead of typing attributes.
  • Gutenberg Blocks — best inside post/page content on block themes, with the same live-preview convenience.
  • Shortcodes — best for page builders (Elementor, Divi, Oxygen) and anywhere you need attributes the widget/block UI doesn’t expose.
