How to Connect Your Own SMTP Server in ReviewX

Every ReviewX plan sends a limited number of review-request and discount emails per month through our platform mailer — Free plans get 20/month, paid plans get 200/month. If you send more than that, or just want full control over deliverability, connect your own SMTP server: emails sent through your own SMTP are unmetered and don’t count against that limit.

Step 1: Open SMTP settings

Go to ReviewX → General Settings → SMTP and enable the SMTP toggle.

Step 2: Enter your mail server details

Field Example
Host smtp.gmail.com
Port 587
Encryption TLS, SSL, or None
Username your-email@example.com
Password your SMTP account password or app password
From Email reviews@yourdomain.com
From Name Your store name
Reply-To Email owner@yourdomain.com

Most email providers document these settings under “SMTP” or “app passwords” in their own help center — Gmail, Outlook, and transactional services like SendGrid or Mailgun all work here.

Step 3: Send a test email

Enter an email address in the test email field and send it. ReviewX verifies the connection using your entered credentials before saving — if the test fails, double check your host, port, and encryption combination (TLS commonly pairs with port 587, SSL with port 465).

Step 4: Save

Once the test succeeds, click Save. From now on, all review-request and discount emails send through your own server instead of ReviewX’s platform mailer, with no monthly cap.

Removing your SMTP connection

Disable the SMTP toggle and save — ReviewX automatically falls back to the platform mailer (and your monthly quota applies again).
